Community Response Partner Network Newsletter: National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month

Take small steps to make a big difference in being prepared for emergencies and to promote preparedness in your community. Learn how to prepare yourself and your household for emergencies.

September is also the peak of hurricane season. Act today to be better prepared for severe storms and flooding. The risk of flooding in Philadelphia is increasing and is expected to rise further.

This is driven by factors such as climate change and warmer temperatures that contribute to rising sea levels, more severe storms and storm surges, and heavier rainfall. Learn about flooding in Philadelphia and mold clean-up after floods.

Community-Based Flu Campaign

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Community-based Flu Campaign (CFC) helps bring influenza vaccination directly into the community. Participating community partners can receive influenza vaccine to host special clinics for uninsured adults ages 19 and older who are residents of Philadelphia.

The Immunization Program provides influenza vaccines and supplies for vaccinating at no cost to the community partner. If you are interested, please reach out to Nichole.J.Taylor@phila.gov for more information and the registration form.

Back-to-School and Vaccines

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has established a central vaccine portal at pa.gov/vaccines with more information on the state’s recommendations and requirements. CHOP has published a webpage with questions and answers regarding the recent developments in vaccine recommendations.

For more information on where to get vaccines in Philadelphia, visit phila.gov/vaccines.

Can we offer a training or resource table for your community?

We offer information and materials on the latest public health topics, such as extreme heat, utility assistance, and other essential resources and services for the public.

Reach out for:

  • Virtual or in-person training: We can come to your location and tailor our training to the groups we work with. Interpretation is available. Request a training here.
