Shelters

The resources and guidance below are for use by residential shelter facilities in controlling the spread of communicable disease.

Special Reporting Instructions For Shelters

To prevent ongoing transmission of communicable disease (of resident or shelter staff), the PHMC Infection Control Coordinator (beeper 215-308-8316) and/or the OSH Operations Supervisor (phone 215-686-7186) should be contacted regarding any notifiable disease/condition. Either the PHMC coordinator or the OSH Supervisor will then report these conditions to the Division of Disease Control at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. Information to be reported includes demographic, clinical, and laboratory information. Prompt reporting ensures the institution of an infection control plan in consultation with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.
