Human metapneumovirus and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks.
For week 47 of 2024, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with 21% (153/729) of specimens testing positive. This level is lower compared to previous weeks, showing a decline in activity. Human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks. RSV activity increased during week 47, with 7.9% (212/2698) of specimens testing positive. Consistent increases over the past five weeks likely signify the start of the new season. RSV activity is expected to further increase in the coming weeks.
For week 46 of 2024, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with 22% (163/739) of specimens testing positive. This level is similar to previous weeks. Human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks. RSV activity increased during week 46, with 6.7% (165/2456) of specimens testing positive. Consistent increases over the past four weeks likely signify the start of the new season. RSV activity is expected to further increase in the coming weeks.
For week 45 of 2024, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with 27% (181/676) of specimens testing positive. This level is similar to previous weeks. Human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks. RSV activity remained low but increased during week 45, with 4.1% (98/2393) of specimens testing positive. This increase likely reflects the start of the respiratory virus season, with further increases expected in the coming weeks.
For week 43 of 2024, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with approximately 25% (171/678) of specimens testing positive. This level is slightly lower compared to the previous four weeks. Human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks. RSV activity was slightly higher during week 43 compared to week 42, but overall, there have been minimal changes to RSV activity for the past four weeks.
For week 42 of 2024, Rhinovirus/Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with approximately 30% (205/693) of specimens testing positive. This level is similar to the previous four weeks. Human metapneumovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus activity remained low with levels similar to previous weeks. RSV activity was slightly higher during week 42 compared to week 41, but overall, there have been minimal changes to RSV activity for the past four weeks.
For week 40 of 2024, Rhinovirus / Enterovirus was the predominant circulating non-influenza respiratory virus, with approximately 30% of tested specimens, 202 of 665, positive, similar to the previous two weeks. Parainfluenza virus 1 activity continued to increase slightly this past week, while parainfluenza viruses 2 and 3 continued to have low levels of activity. Human metapneumovirus and adenovirus activity has been consistent with previous seasons for this time of year. RSV activity was slightly higher during week 40 compared to previous weeks.
For week 38, rhinovirus/enterovirus was the predominant circulating respiratory virus, with 30% of tested specimens positive. Rhinovirus/enterovirus detections increased rapidly over the past few weeks, though activity is consistent with previous seasons for this time of year. Other respiratory virus activity remains low.
For week 33, respiratory virus activity remains low.
For week 21 of 2024, rhinovirus/enterovirus detections have increased in recent weeks. During May, human metapneumovirus activity declined from peak activity in March and April. Parainfluenza virus type 3 detections decreased but also remain high overall. Parainfluenza virus type 1, parainfluenza virus type 2, adenovirus, and RSV activity remained at low levels.
